If anyone knows me, nothing is ever really DONE. So I won’t say that my studio space is “done”. But it is done enough that I can show it off, and not have to explain its pitiful state anymore :).
I get a little happy flutter everytime I walk into it…yes, I am a simple dork like that. It is so nice to have something that is mine, I can to call the shots, I get to have pink poinsettas if I want, I get to have a cool red velvet chair, and scented candles. Nobody can tell me NO….yay me!
This building was an old pencil factory in downtown Fredericksburg that was converted into business lofts. Skylights throughout, exposed conduit, wood ceilings, air tunnels etc. We had visited this building a couple years prior for a Gala Charity event and fell in love with it. Little did we know that my hubby and I would be moving in a couple years later.
The first set of photos will give you a glimpse of the building, and my studio as you walk up to it. Then the second images is the current interior state. As mentioned above I don’t keep anything the same for too long. The creative bug in me gets bored way to fast and I have to mix things up a bit. So the accent color (currently pink) will change, but my yummy red velvet chair will stay (isn’t that to die for??). You will definitely see that in some future shoots.
I hope my clients enjoy my little space. It beats meeting at Starbucks, Panera or having to clear out my house for a couple of hours and clean *gasp*. If the economy picks back up I have my eye on a larger unit down the hall. And hold onto your seats….this one has a natural light studio space in it *sigh*. This is wear I pinch myself back to reality and keep those dreams burning, and work hard in 2009 so I can bump up into shooting space. OX Marta
