Dreams Resort Cancun Mexico – Destination Wedding Photographer

As I blogged before I spent last weekend in Cancun, Mexico shooting a wedding and Trash the Dress session at the Dreams Resort Cancun. I have so excited to play with these images…just trying to pick a couple to satisfy those waiting to see what we got was more of a challenge than I expected.

Jo & Stacy my new “cousins” :) were amazing. They invited Tiffani Sunshine and I in as if were part of their family. Checking with us to be sure we had all we needed, allowing us to play as much as we wanted, and downing many drinks (after the wedding & TTD) with us. It is always an added pleasure to come home knowing I have new friends and not just clients! These two are clearly in love and share the same kind of BFF type humor and candor that I share with my own hubby, it warmed my heart the entire time I saw them interact. Enjoy a little peek, and more will come soon!

News & Updates – Virginia, DC, Maryland Photographer

ahhh! My long lost blog! Seems lately I have been pretty busy with the back end of my business. I have had lots of sessions scheduled but the wonderful April rains have delayed them all! So…reschedule, reschedule, reschedule! For those of you on this “reschedule list” it is worth the wait…promise. That nice warm sunny glow, is so so worth it.

So what else has been going on with Marta Locklear Photography?

Blush – As you have seen in previous posts my friend and I launched Blush Boudoir. The DC marathon scheduled for June 12 & 13 is almost sold out, we have a few slots still left open. We are working on a Richmond, Atlanta, NC, & NYC marathons in the near future. If you would like one in a city near you that is not posted contact us on how to get us to you!

Weddings – The wedding season is starting off with a bang this year. I am packing up and heading to yummy sandy and sunny Dreams Resorts Cancun this weekend to shoot a wedding and I can’t wait!! What a way to start the season off. With that said, I want to do more destinations…not just warm sunny coastal goodness (even though those are just divine), but all over the country. So far this year I am traveling to Charleston, SC, Cancun, Maryland, several here in VA, and one in the works in NC next year already.

Portraits – It seems this is the year for travel! I have decided to not charge travel fees if it is within reason this year. I have clients all over. Most of my clients are not local to me, and that is perfectly fine with me! A nice long kidless road trip is never something I shun :), but enjoy the chance to roll down the windows and crank up my music (something besides Jonas Brothers and Miley Cirus).

Locations I am already scheduled to visit and will take sessions are:

Raleigh NC May 29/30, and June 6/7, Charleston, SC May 31-June 4

Working on a summer NYC trip for portraits too!

Contact me if you want to book a session on any of these dates or would like to see about another location.

I will be adding mini-sessions this summer. I will find a great location and host a day of 30 minute mini sessions in a theme oriented enviroment. So stay tuned for those details to come soon.

Seniors – Booking 2010 seniors now! And still shooting those last minute 2009!

I think that is all for now! Sessions should start popping up on the blog soon, and of course some super yummy Cancun images!

Enjoy the gorgeous weather VA is going to have this weekend (of course after I leave town).

Roxi for my Bean – Virginia Pet Photographer

My Bean, my eldest, my only girl. I’d give the world to her if I could. But the best the I gave her recently was the gift of work ethic and reward. My Bean has asked me for years now for her own little tiny puppy, her version of a little sister. Someone she can chat too, besides her make believe friends, someone to dress, pamper and love unconditionally (the boys are so done with her tutus). So we made a deal. If she would save half and continue doing well in school we would get her a puppy. Since then she saved half (even after spending some), has made Honor Roll every semester, and shown us through chores and dedication that this is the one thing that she really really wanted and was ready to take care of.

She and I spent hours and hours on the interent, looking for the perfect breed, size, color, and price…tea cups and toys are EXPENSIVE! Like $800-1500 expensive…ouch! We are pound puppy kinda people…so this was a new avenue for us. We finally found a few, and each time we called they were already gone…so heart broken and many explanations that the right one would come along…we waited. Friday evening when the new listings came out, we saw $400 for Bichon Yorkie mix. Before I even had a chance my daughter was Googling the mix to see what they would look like. Of course with any mix, especially one so different they all looked different! We called up the lady, and drove nearly 40 minutes away to see the pups.

Back in the dark country, a bit nervous, and a tad lost (GPS picks up land not driveways out in the country). We finally found it and were greated by four lazy little black puff balls. Since she wanted small, I measured each one to find the petitest little one, and that one was Miss Roxi! Because my daughter was so in love, and I am tad addicted to making these little videos, I wanted to make her a little video of her and her little girl. Get used to these. I am working on getting a really cool new camera and will be offering some fabu videos for my clients mixed with your images!

Enjoy Miss Roxi

My Monkie & Me – Virginia Family Photographer

Yesterday morning I was home with my little dude, as I am almost everyday now. He was bored, and I had things to do :(. So instead of getting frustrated and annoyed I decided to grab my camera and play with him. Since I am the image taker I generally do not have the images of me and my babies. And I am determined to change that and take the time to do it.

So at arms length and my least favorite lens (because it is the only one that will do this at arms length), I took 15 minutes and snapped a few of My Monkie & Me. More will come of the other two soon!
