Press | Marta Locklear Virginia & Destination Wedding Photographer

Things are starting to get some momentum in the world of Marta Locklear Photography. I started out as mom taking pictures of her munchkins, then family, friends, etc. With a ton of hard work and dedication I have built a nice little Portrait Photography business for myself…and I love every second of it. And hopefully the new studio space (coming in September) will only take the Life/Portrait side of the business to the next level. With all that said I have been working hard to build up the wedding side of my business as well. I am not planning on switching completely over to weddings…so no worries there, but I would love to do a good number of them a year mixed in with my studio and on location Life Photography. I have worked with so many wonderful clients in both sides of my business and they have all been SO very patient with the growth, development (slow times), figuring things out, etc. I appreciate it so very much, and hope to work out all the kinks as best as I can.

Too Many Options | Warrenton Virginia Newborn Photographer

Today I had the luxury of a nice quiet country drive to Warrenton Virginia for a newborn session. For those of you that do not know…that means a gorgeous 75 degree morning drive heading into a Blue Ridge Mountain view. Nothing but crops and fields on either side. Aside from the urge to jump out of the car and go running through those fields (camera in hand) it is peaceful and quiet.

I arrive and I am greeted by a super sweet Dad, newborn in hand and a cozy home full of Texas charm and more options than my creative brain knows what to do with. So I go about the session as normal and then start playing. Gorgeous green antique sofa handed down by her grandparents, big old dining table, and ureka…a 2 ft tall hollowed out tree trunk plant vase tucked in a corner somewhere. Seriously…when I saw it, I just stood there…staring. I was in mid shoot with Dad and the baby, and just paused…blankly. I am sure they thought I was a few bricks shy at that point…but it was just so gorgeous. Immediately I started mulling through my brain on how the heck do I ask these new parents that I just started chatting with yesterday, to stuff their 2 week old first child into this wooden vase. But luckily to my relief someone…not sure who…since I was still in somewhat of a coma state, said we could use it. Although I am sure that I kept my composure (because no furniture went flying) but inside I did a jig, a whoo hoo and a cartwheel. They are lucky that it was too big to stuff in my bin…not that I am a thief or anything…but my new studio is screaming for it!

I am only posting one of the vase images here…I need to save some for their gallery…but I am sure you will see more down the road :).

Zack & Francesca Part 2 | Fredericksburg VA & Destination Wedding Photographer

As promised in the previous post I would have the Sneak Peek Slideshow for Zack & Francesca up this evening.

Zack & Francesca were married on July 4, 2009 in Fredericksburg Virginia at the beautiful St.Mary’s Church next to the University of Mary Washington. It was a gorgeous ceremony filled with a big loving family. We were lucky enough to have a good bit of time between the ceremony and reception festivites to venture to the University of Mary Washington for some sunny (and hot) portraits. I think the humidity reached like 85% when I had checked the weather on my phone…yikes. Regardless, the images turned out awesome and the crew was more than patient and eager to participate. Then off to  Fredericksburg Square we went for a very fun and animated reception. Tiffani Sunshine (my second) and I had a blast shooting this reception…never a dull moment. If this slide show does not explain enough be sure to check the one on the previous post (in case you missed it).

I want to wish Zack & Francesca a wonderful and happy marraige. You are wonderful to work with and I had so much fun with your friends and family.

Zack & Francesca Part 1 | Fredericksburg VA & Destination Wedding Photographer

I could just be a major dork…and honestly this is probably the case…but no matter how many times I have seen the images…witnessed this in person…watched the slideshow…I laugh out loud and tear up!

Francesca & Zack had one of the most entertaining wedding receptions I had been to in a long time. Their friends are fun, uninhibited, and quite serious dancers. Throw in some classic rock and you have a reception that begged for a videographer. I warned these two guys that I would probably put together their own slideshow, and that is just what I did.

Eddie Money eat your heart out!

Wedding sneak peek slideshow is coming this evening as well. So be sure to check back!
