Workshops coming soon | Marta Locklear Photography

Yep…you read right! Since the beginning of the year I have had countless numbers of emails from new photographers with questions and just wanting some tips and tricks. I do my best to get them all answered but find that it just leaves them with more questions. So I am putting together online workshop that will allow you to ask endless numbers of questions, do lessons, watch video tutorials, get critiques (with help on how to correct), learn how to find light (even in darker environments), learn shooting into the light (back lighting), some post processing, how I handle my work flow and life (the last part seems to be the most popular question)! I will also be offering small group sessions for on location light finding and back lighting.

And let me just say, I am humbled and honestly a tad shocked that people want to learn from me. It seems not to long ago I was in that same position and some days still find myself still there. I never stop learning, studying, researching and trying. Just the other day I sat on the floor of my living room in front of my glass door with my camera manual before me, checking up on some technical stuff.

More details will be coming soon. If you are interested in the online workshops (with video lessons) sign up on this mailing list for more details.

Smiles x 6 | Fredericksburg Virginia Child & Family Photographer

It seems this is the year of the reschedule. The rain, clouds, thunderstorms have kept my clients and my schedule in constant flux. But to me, and hopefully my clients it is worth it. Here is a nice big smiley family of 6…and I must add good looking too! These are some of my favorite family images yet. The circle one is not originial…but new  to me, and so fun to do! Love the tree one…just a cool composition and I owe it to the kids for the in the tree idea. The last image was just a little quirky one.  The kids (well little Miss in light pink) were dying to sit on this wall…and since we were at the battlefields, I thought it would be fun to do an old fashion silly image…just for fun. Enjoy!

Busy Busy Bee | Richmond Virginia Child Family Photographer

And when I say Busy Bee…I am not exaggerating! I have photographed this Little Miss when she was 4 months, 1 year and now at a precious and very explorative 2 years old. From the second she showed up in front of me at the park in Richmond she was in nearly full run the entire time. Not a problem…adjusted the camera to keep up with the faster pace…curled my toes up to keep my flip flops on in a slight crouching sprint (wishing I had packed my running shoes) and just started shooting. Yes, I have many of the back of her…cause apparently I was not the coolest thing out there to be exploring. But I assured her parents I would capture her (busy or not) and here is a little peek at our running session together.

Little Interview with Moi | Portrait & Wedding Photographer

I was asked a couple of weeks ago to do a little interview for The Creative Mama Blog. The blog’s creator Angie Warren wanted to do a 2 week feature about photography for Mom’s. I am extremely humbled to be one among some of my favorite photographers (Tara Whitney, Lily Blue, Stacey Woods, just to name a few). Honestly…I had not heard of the blog before…so I ventured over and took a peek, loved it and added it instantly to my blog stalking! Angie does an amazing job with the content and keeping it fun! Oh…and did I mention GIVE-A-WAYS? Yup…she has some goodies for everyone…seasoned photographers, newbies and even just those out there that just want to take better pictures of their kiddos. So take a moment and head over to The Creative Mama for some inspiration and little tid bits about me :). Click on the link or image to see the full article.
