It’s that time of year again! Back to School Locklear style! My kids crack me up. They did the second pic all on their own :).

New Nerves | Richmond Newborn & Family Photographer

Honestly I was a wreck with nerves before this session. It was baffling to me since I show up to people’s homes (stranger’s homes) hours from my own home and feel no where near the nerves I experienced before this session. I just couldn’t figure it out…I have been shooting this family for over 2 years now (total of 8 sessions already) so I knew who and what I was getting into (love them…peice of cake clients), newborn session…never get nervous about those anymore (unless they are older, but he was a yummy less than 1 week old)…it was in my new studio, so I know what the room and light was like.

But I think the studio is the ticket. This was/is a big step for my business and my family. It is a new direction for my style as well. I was afraid of failing, the studio not being all I hoped it would be. Afraid of not getting enough out of the space to fulfill an entire session. Maybe the light was not as good as my little pea brain cooked up? Did I have enough props yet (just moved in the night before). Will the clients like it? Worth the drive? I could go on, but I think you can see what my brain was cooking up.

I did the session, baby slept like a champ, 2 year old ran around and enjoyed the enviroment and gave me all I could ask for, the space warmed up just perfect, and the light was just stunning. I sat there after they all left, on the floor in the middle of my new space…misty eyed…it was perfect.

Thank you “R” family for supporting me all these years. Thank you to my family for putting up with this business and my hectic brain and lack of time. Thank you friends and peers for seeing that I could do it before I did.
