It has been just over a week since my very first in person Workshop. I had 4 wonderful growing photographers (Mark Smith, Tanya Rey, Natalie Jewell, Merrilyn Romen) venture from all over to my home town of Fredericksburg , Virginia. Despite Mother Nature’s attempt to sabotage the entire workshop with unseasonably low temperatures, clouds and nasty misty rain, we were still able to find cool locations that were covered and full of new light, texture and color. What a better way to learn than have to be challenged from the get go with weather, low light and cold models. Everyone were troopers, especially the models.
After the shoots we spent time in my studio going over post processing, and I took a look at each attendees images and discussed composition, light, texture, perspective and how to sort through the images and giving your clients a gallery full of variety. I did not get to shoot a ton, I showed them how I would approach a location, and then stepped back and let each of them shoot and find their own vision. Here you can see some of the images that I grabbed last weekend. Another blog post will be coming with the images from each of the attendees.
Will I do it again…absolutely…just in warmer weather and in new locations around the country. Here are a few of my favorites and then a slide show of the rest.
