This past Saturday we spent the day in the country at a cousin’s house. The day was filled with early Spring heat, egg hunt after egg hunt, dirty toes and sugar induced comas. Today we spent a very lazy and laid back Easter in our home. Jammie’s were worn through out the day, new toys were played with, hair was left un-brushed and matted and spring breeze naps were had. At the end of the day the chocolate egg sugar rushes started to take hold and I drove the kiddos across the way to the school playground to ride their Rip Sticks, Big Wheels and dance in the sun rays. Lucky for me my camera was packed and ready to play in the warm glow of the sunset. Today I captured my kids real…bed headed, dirty toed, rumpled clothed, best-friended and full of life.
My daughter has always been my Muse. She is one of the reasons I started doing what I do. She has made my visions come to life over the last 4 years and has been willing to do all I ask her to do. She conquers each itchy bug infested field after the other, and sits in stinky urban coves like they were doused in Tiger Lilies. Here she embraces the light like she was made for it.
My middle guy…he is my shy one (at least camera shy), my athlete, my tank and my love bug (he will hate me for saying that last part, but he is). At only 7 he has just about crested the height of his 11 year old sister, and has the strength of an iron man. Constantly moving, creating games to keep his hand eye coordination challenged, he does all he can to impress me on a daily basis. The image of him and his siblings breaks my heart a touch because it has been so long since I have seen his face with out his glasses and I can’t wait for the day he gets to lose them. It is a sacrifice we both are willing to make…but honestly, I miss those uninterrupted big brown eyes of his.
My little dude…my baby. He is 3 already and still carries a smile and twinkle in his eye. His new found passion for Dinosaurs has meant a few constant companions in our daily routines (baths included). He fumblingly totes them everywhere he goes and scrambles around his bed at night looking for the one that has wandered from his grip. He is the first of my 3 to cling to anything like this, so it charms me every time I see him round the corner with his crew. Even with an ear infection he smiles.
Enjoy, Happy Belated Easter and Happy Spring!
