studio | Richmond Virginia Maternity Photographer

I have a quaint little studio with a ton of stunning natural light…and I just don’t use it enough. My photography started outdoors and that is probably where I feel the most comfortable. My options are endless and I don’t bore easily of it. Personally I am not a backdrop kinda girl. I like things to feel a bit more homey and lived in, less staged (although they are). So I tend to still find my way outside instead of in the studio. This session was for an Evolve Mentoring Session and I had some grand ideas for a Boho chic sun filled outdoor session, but Mother Nature once again had her own ideas for me. Last minute I decided to set up the studio in a bedroom-esque style and see what I could make of it. I must say, I love it. It is light airy, simple and clean. It is about the momma and her belly and the simple tones of her wardrobe. While the hunt is still on for a house (with many rooms for a studio), I think you will see me doing more “sets” in my current studio.

The outdoor portion of this session was probably one of the most adventurous. My normal river entrance location was closed, so we jumped over to the other side to an open access area. Little did we know that the river was a bit higher and the walking areas were skinny little trails winding along the edge. On the way there…it was just fine. On the way back…well….that was another story. It was raining…scratch that…POURING. I brought 2 large umbrellas with me, and handed those off to my two clients and used the large quilt I brought for myself. Skinny little trails on the side of the river quickly became muddy slippery trails. We carefully navigated our way back covered in mud and drenched (I was drenched). It will be a session we will not soon forget for sure!

Mr B | Fredericksburg Virginia Child Photographer

A little sneak peek from one of the sessions from my last Evolve mentoring last week.

How adorable is this guy? Not only is he cute, but he is good, and strong. Being born quite early, he was still sitting up perfectly without the slightest wobble at 6 months old! I could just squeeze him and his little monkey suit!

Black & White | Fredericksburg Virginia Senior Photographer

Today I wanted to do something a little different for my sneak peek. I was so drawn into several of the Black & Whites from this session I decided to do this post all in BW. Trust me when I tell you that the color ones are just as divine…but you see a ton of color from me and I just don’t share that many of my BW work. This lovely senior traveled down from Northern Virginia to model for my last Evolve Mentoring session on one of those dreadfully hot days. She was a real trooper for me.

Bliss | Northern Virginia Newborn Photographer

Sometimes you just pick up a newborn and they just fit. Fit almost like they are your own. This little lovely snuggled right into me like I had held her a hundred times, leaving me lost with that longing for my own babies to be little again. I wanted to keep her…

My friend and fellow photographer Stacy Lincoln was kind enough to deliver her 3rd child just in time to model for one of my recent Evolve mentoring sessions. Immediately I ran out and picked up a few new wraps to try on her and I must say I am loving the pops of color! Thank you Stacy!
