Peace | Destination Wedding Photographer

I feel like I have neglected this blog so much lately and I owe you all an apology for that. My goal is to blog at least 3 times a week, but I have clearly let that slip to the wayside. Good news it is not because I have not been busy…I have been too busy. In the last two months I have been out of town for 5 weekends teaching workshops, shooting weddings and hosting Blush Boudoir Marathons. Throw in online mentoring, family life and a slew of sessions in between the weekends and lets just say Marta is a teeny bit maxed out.

During all this a little piece of heaven has fallen into my lap. A casual networking morning coffee has turned into the next big step for MLP. I will admit it is has been a little scary, but I know it is time. This next big step will mean some changes for my clients (good ones I promise), all new products, pricing and perfect customer service. I will get peace of mind and time to focus on the things I need to be focusing on.

More details of the “change” will come soon. I am very excited and ready to take the next step.

Here is an image I took in Charleston, SC while shooting a Destination Wedding with Tiffani Sunshine Photography.

I have had enough.

As a creative person, artist, whatever you want to call it, we all go through these random phases of self doubt, loath of old images (nothing personal to clients…just part of the process), and questioning where we are going and what we are going to do next. At least that is me.

Of course I get on the creative high’s too, but the funks seem to be the ones that get the best of us.

I have been tired of my website for some time. The images, as much as I love each and everyone of them, have been around for a solid year or so and I have been itching to redo and show more of my current work.

My goal was to have this done in January, and as most of you can see or have seen that did not happen! Each month I have made promise after promise to get it up and going and it just keeps getting shoved to the bottom of the pile.

So tonight, I had had it. I just decided to close it down until I can get it going. Hopefully this will motivate me to get it done, but for now the blog is it!

I ask you for your patience and understanding as I get the new work up, and the new site done.

OXOX

Un Done | Fredericksburg Virginia Children’s Photographer

This past Saturday we spent the day in the country at a cousin’s house. The day was filled with early Spring heat, egg hunt after egg hunt, dirty toes and sugar induced comas. Today we spent a very lazy and laid back Easter in our home. Jammie’s were worn through out the day, new toys were played with, hair was left un-brushed and matted and spring breeze naps were had. At the end of the day the chocolate egg sugar rushes started to take hold and I drove the kiddos across the way to the school playground to ride their Rip Sticks, Big Wheels and dance in the sun rays. Lucky for me my camera was packed and ready to play in the warm glow of the sunset. Today I captured my kids real…bed headed, dirty toed, rumpled clothed, best-friended and full of life.

My daughter has always been my Muse. She is one of the reasons I started doing what I do. She has made my visions come to life over the last 4 years and has been willing to do all I ask her to do. She conquers each itchy bug infested field after the other, and sits in stinky urban coves like they were doused in Tiger Lilies. Here she embraces the light like she was made for it.

My middle guy…he is my shy one (at least camera shy), my athlete, my tank and my love bug (he will hate me for saying that last part, but he is). At only 7 he has just about crested the height of his 11 year old sister, and has the strength of an iron man. Constantly moving, creating games to keep his hand eye coordination challenged, he does all he can to impress me on a daily basis. The image of him and his siblings breaks my heart a touch because it has been so long since I have seen his face with out his glasses and I can’t wait for the day he gets to lose them. It is a sacrifice we both are willing to make…but honestly, I miss those uninterrupted big brown eyes of his.

My little dude…my baby. He is 3 already and still carries a smile and twinkle in his eye. His new found passion for Dinosaurs has meant a few constant companions in our daily routines (baths included). He fumblingly totes them everywhere he goes and scrambles around his bed at night looking for the one that has wandered from his grip. He is the first of my 3 to cling to anything like this, so it charms me every time I see him round the corner with his crew. Even with an ear infection he smiles.

Enjoy, Happy Belated Easter and Happy Spring!

He Sleeps | Northern Virginia Child Photographer

I am so sorry for not blogging more in the last week. As some of you may know I have another job that I work here and there with my husband. Well, over the last month my client for that job decided to give me the most work they ever have given me at one time, and at the same time we lost my assistant for that job. It was a horribly tough three weeks, but I survived and am playing some major catch up!

This blog post is one that has been in the works for some time. My youngest, now 3, has the knack for being able to sleep just about anywhere, or passing out in just about any position. When I first started taking the images (well over a year and half ago) it was for my husband and I’s personal entertainment and I assumed it was nothing more than typical kid pass out. As I started posting them to Facebook I soon realized he was a touch special in his sleeping habits. Lucky for us, once asleep we can move him anywhere and he will stay passed out for 1.5-3 hours. He does not have any sleep problems…he sleeps no more than any other kid….he just doesn’t care when or where he sleeps!

Here are my captures of him since August of 2008 (when I got my iPhone). iPhone App Shake It Photo.
