She looks like me. He is a lot like me. It is scary, humbling, and fascinating to me.
He got my build…large, strong and sturdy. He is bull headed and a control freak. He descreetly studies everything and absorbs every detail and then can translate that into art, or detailed descriptions that will blow your mind. His athleticism surprises us daily. He has an air of quiet confidence but is super sensitive all at the same time. He is a mama’s boy. When he smiles, it is contagious, sincere and from the heart.
9 years ago today he shocked us all at a whopping 11 lb 1 oz and 23 inches long and hasn’t slowed down for a second. At the size of a 13 year old, we easily forget he is still just a boy at 9 years of age. I am already fending off his big sister’s friends and steadily preparing myself for the actual teen years. Good thing is, that to him, girls are still a little “gross”, or at least he pretends they are :).
Today his birthday cake request was Lemon Cake or Lemon Meringue Pie. What kid asks for that? Mine does…and I love it. So I am making Lemon Meringue Cupcakes for hopefully a happy medium.
I love this gentle giant more than anything and wish him countless adventures and wonderful years ahead.
