knit . baby

The second he walked into the studio I was a teeny bit giddy inside. Dad was wearing a Fisherman Sweater. See….I grew up with these sweaters. My Grandmother and Mom used to knit them for us every couple of years and the site of them instantly brings back memories of family vacations fishing off the beaches of the Outer Banks. Not to mention I have a super duper love for anything wooley and knit!

Getting the chance to photograph this couples adorable new little one in my own knits and against Dad’s Fisherman was nothing short of perfect. I couldn’t have planned it better. Now if we could have just got Mr. Wideawake to sleep a bit more the session would have been seamless. In the end we won with a lot of patience and got him to sleep.

You may recognize this lovely little family from their maternity session. Now a few months later they visited my studio some images of their new addition! Oh, and check out Miss Thing and her “catalog pose” you can find her outfit on Crewcuts…one of my absolute favorite places (Jcrew in general). So now you know where to get my Christmas gift from…wink, wink!  I might have to post more of her little shoot after Mom and Dad have a chance to see them :).

Normally it is a little struggle for about 30 minutes or so to get them all snuggly and sleepy so I can pose them, wrap them and put them in things. But the last two little bundles were wide eyed and bushy tailed. Not fussy at all….just…ready to see the world!
