evergreen . maternity

Sometimes it is just good to suck it up and face the cold winter weather for a session :). I will admit…as I have gotten older my personal thermostat is completely broken. I am cold all the time. Even warm spring breezes give me the chills at times. So now the winter months are down right painful. I shiver when I climb into bed (all over convulsing body shivers). I own an impressive stock of micro fleece (or magic cloth as I like to call it). I whine a lot about the cold. BUT….I didn’t want that to stop me for a cute outdoor winter session. I am hard core…right? Tough chic that doesn’t get cold, or doesn’t care. Not! So I have learned to battle my broken thermostat and buy thermal underwear (the new magic cloth in my life). Seriously…it was 32 degrees and I was FINE! I didn’t even need my nifty finger-tip-less shooting gloves.

Now that I have figured out a way to shoot in the cold, I just need more super willing clients to let me play!

I just love working with this woman! I have worked with her once before and I just adored her lines then. Yes….I said “lines”. When I say this I mean her features…they are classic, long, timeless, and so wonderful to photograph. For both sessions she brought me an array of simple, timeless with a hint of romantic clothing. Her color choices are always spot on, and compliment her perfectly. To top that off she brings me a tall, handsome and bearded husband (for her, not me :) ). Seriously though, he just finished off the look that we were going for and they fit so wonderfully together. We are all anxiously awaiting the arrival of their little one…and my ideas are already brewing!

baby bits . fredericksburg newborn photographer

Downfall of being a newborn photographer is having to give these little bundles back to their parents. But the good thing is that I get to hold and snuggle them for a few minutes so I can get my baby fix in! Enjoy all of his little baby parts.

Soft | Virginia, DC, Maryland Newborn Photographer

Sigh…

I have finally started to get some new stuff going on in the studio. This outdoor girl has had a hard time dealing with the constraints of my walls. I adore (would marry if I could) the light in my studio, but I love variety. And I was getting bored. So what do you do when you get bored? Brainstorm…a lot. Try to get inspired, find something new. Something that can fit in a quaint small sized studio, something that will get my photographer juices flowing.

Then one day it hit. First the bed, the light and the window for this maternity session. Then I wanted to amp up my next newborn. The pieces started coming together. Old Thrift Store table I recently painted, white ice bucket, pink shawl and a sweet little pink baby. Take it to the next level with my vintage quilt, and a buttery yellow wrap and I have a set that I am more than happy with. Thank you Rebecca and Cece for letting me play with you!
