Too Many Options | Warrenton Virginia Newborn Photographer

Today I had the luxury of a nice quiet country drive to Warrenton Virginia for a newborn session. For those of you that do not know…that means a gorgeous 75 degree morning drive heading into a Blue Ridge Mountain view. Nothing but crops and fields on either side. Aside from the urge to jump out of the car and go running through those fields (camera in hand) it is peaceful and quiet.

I arrive and I am greeted by a super sweet Dad, newborn in hand and a cozy home full of Texas charm and more options than my creative brain knows what to do with. So I go about the session as normal and then start playing. Gorgeous green antique sofa handed down by her grandparents, big old dining table, and ureka…a 2 ft tall hollowed out tree trunk plant vase tucked in a corner somewhere. Seriously…when I saw it, I just stood there…staring. I was in mid shoot with Dad and the baby, and just paused…blankly. I am sure they thought I was a few bricks shy at that point…but it was just so gorgeous. Immediately I started mulling through my brain on how the heck do I ask these new parents that I just started chatting with yesterday, to stuff their 2 week old first child into this wooden vase. But luckily to my relief someone…not sure who…since I was still in somewhat of a coma state, said we could use it. Although I am sure that I kept my composure (because no furniture went flying) but inside I did a jig, a whoo hoo and a cartwheel. They are lucky that it was too big to stuff in my bin…not that I am a thief or anything…but my new studio is screaming for it!

I am only posting one of the vase images here…I need to save some for their gallery…but I am sure you will see more down the road :).
