I adore the Eastern Shore. I grew up at the beach and lived just off the Chesapeake Bay for several years and vacationed several times a year in the Outer Banks. So diving into a world of water, ducks, shell fish, and a very Navy family was like stepping into a big part of my past. Kate & JP have clearly found what they had been waiting for. And I still smile ear to ear every time I see Kate’s smile. She is probably one of the most glowing brides I have ever photographed.

My first Editorial.    My first Publication.    My first Fashion Shoot.    My first Cover.    My first time dreaming something bigger than I thought I could actually do.

When Eco-Beautiful Magazine wrote me and asked if I would be interested in doing an editorial, it took everything I had to not scream like a school girl. Being published is a step in this industry, but being asked to shoot a spread is whole other. PLUS, I have a degree in Fashion Design, I studied Couture Bridal and Evening as my focus. This is something I adore. BUT a totally different approach to it.

The shoot was amazing. Seriously.The Eco-Beautiful Weddings’ team was so great to work with and I can’t wait to work with all of them again. A special thanks to Natalie Obringer of Honey Luxe Imagery for assisting me during the shoot!

I did leave the shoot feeling like I had found myself. I thought I had found myself already in this business since I have been more “me” since I started photography than I have been my whole life. Then I did this shoot and it was seriously one of those “aha” moments. Once we got to the last few dresses my groove totally set in, I jumped straight into my zone…and I was straight up higher than a kite. Fashion & Photography. Duh. I mean. REALLY.  D U H. I studied it my whole high school and college life…fashion. It wasn’t until I went from wanting to travel the world being a fashion designer, to being a suburban mommy, that I lost that “clue”. By the time I stepped into the photography world I had pretty much lost all of my past fashion life and I jumped right into portraits, kids and families. Never once considering tapping back into the fashion world. Duh. So this shoot really kinda smacked me on the back of the head and knocked some sense into me. Am I dropping everything to be a Fashion Photographer? Ha. No. I am not stupid, it is SO not that easy and I know I have a lot of growth to still do there. I adore my portrait clients and I really do love what I do. You may however see me playing a bit more with things, throwing more of this and that into my sessions, or shoots I organize. I never stop growing…evolving myself, work and business. This is the perfect example. So… I may lay my head on my pillow at night dreaming of my future spreads in various magazines. I know that is the biggest dream I could dream. I know my odds are low. But I know that I LOVE a good challenge and I love the fight to try. I haven’t even made it as far as I thought I wanted to go in the business I am in now. And now I want to quadruple that? Of course. Why not? As my Facebook slogan says “Never limit yourself…” It will be fun to try, right?

Now that I have written my little “me moment” get over to check out this wonderful magazine that Katie Martin and Robin Fisher have put together for Eco-Beautiful Weddings. The magazine is filled with everything you can imagine for the perfect Eco friendly affair without missing a single ounce of style!

…and I love it!

I have had some ideas floating around in my brain for…ummm…over a year now! I tried, tried, tried to get it to work out last year with the “blog/site change” but I eventually gave up, and stuck with the same old, same old.

BORING!

So here you have my change…simple…but enough.

Things are still a teeny bit messy…and I will be making tweaks and changes here and there over the next few days, and then onto fix up the website!

This lovely bride above was from 1 of the many weddings I second shot last year. Natalie of Honey Luxe Imagery asked me to second shoot this local wedding for her…and I can’t wait to one of these days get to sit down and show you more! It has been a slight bit of torture not to edit them and the others sitting in the (not immediate need que).

I had the opportunity to shoot with a wonderful studio out of Fairfax Virginia…Studio Diana. I assisted and shot along side the talented Jenni Green for the marraige of Anne & Clark. Here is a little sneak peek at some of my fav’s from the day.
